Very Law convinces the court to allow the defendant in a civil litigation matter to give their testimony via video link

Recently, Very Law worked on a sensitive civil litigation matter representing the defendant.
Our client, who was facing a civil suit, provided medical evidence that they suffered from PTSD and panic attacks. We argued that appearing in court would be very distressing for them.
Our new associate, Nicholas R. Dinardo, put forward a motion that the defendant should be allowed to give their testimony through a telephone call instead of appearing in court in person. This was done so that they won’t be put in an uncomfortable position when testifying.
The order was granted by the court and our client will now be allowed to testify via video link instead of in person.
This was a big win for Very Law as courts are hesitant to allow video testimonies because they’re difficult to cross-examine. However, the court understood the defendant’s situation and recognized their right to testify through video.
The matter resolved quickly thereafter. Our victory on the motion was a major step toward getting our client the best possible outcome.
